Back to the Fuscia!
Bedraggled, wilting, dying
There were loads of them, in their little lot
But at £2.50 I couldn’t buy the lot!
It preyed on my mind
How could people be so unkind?
So at the end of my shopping run
I went back to the Fuscia!
I swear they were screaming – take me, no, me, no, me!
But I picked out the one that seemed less damaged by the sun.
The chosen one
Put gently on the floor of my car…
Now separated from the others…!
Friends, sisters, brothers?
I dug a hole, put my best soil in
Carefully avoiding the buds, tucked it in
Precious water gently added
I fought off the night slugs cruelly
In the morning I went back to the Fuscia
Thanking me with its glorious buds!
